![]() General gameplay and AI behavior is what you expect - except for formations, which are kinda broken/nonfunctional compared to classic. Again, that's the worst example of it, but there are definitely more moments later in the game that are more frustrating than they really need to be, especially if you already ~know what you're doing. While on the one hand it keeps the challenge going even for the most skilled players, there are just some moments - like Mission 3, for instance - that it makes the game unfair given what the scenario may be. In other words, the game punishes you for doing too well. What once was a bit of a scramble to see if you could get them all suddenly becomes a panicky mess of trying to simply succeed in the mission at all. Enter mission 3, and instead of dealing with two or three Assault Frigates blasting away at the Cryo Trays, you're faced with six or seven. If you are a veteran of the series - or just good at RTS in general - you may find yourself with a significant number of strike craft at the end of mission 2. The most egregious example of this is the HW1:R Mission 3, Return to Kharak. If you are doing well, the next mission will have additional enemies for you to deal with. ![]() So in case you have yet to figure out what the scaling refers to, the HW2 engine takes an inventory of your current fleet at the end of every mission.
